MADRID — Delays were expected in flights from Spain to Britain after problems with the air traffic control system in London.

AENA, the state-run company which controls Spain's airports, said it had been informed of a problem of a fault in the information system.

The fault had been repaired 45 minutes after it was first spotted in London, but it meant there might be a backlog in flights, causing delays later in the day.

AENA said: "Flights to Britain could suffer delays during the day."

At least one British Airways flight from Madrid to London had been cancelled.

AENA said customers travelling to Britain should contact their airlines to find out the latest situation.
