MALAGA - A family has been rescued by police in mountains near Malaga, it was reported Monday.
Just hours later two mountaineers were saved in a separate incident in the Sierra Nevada near Cadiz.
The family, which included several small children, got lost while walking through the Compete mountains near Malaga.
They called emergency services by telephone at about 7.30pm Sunday night.
By about 9pm, units from the Guardia Civil in Granada and Malaga had found the family and brought them to safety.
In a separate incident, a climber was picked up by rescuers in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
He became separated from his group in thick fog, but managed to reach a shelter in the Cucaracha mountains.
The second climber, who had injured a leg the previous day, was rescued early Monday morning.
He was picked up at a shelter in the Poqueira area, evacuated by helicopter to the airport, and flown to hospital in Granada.
