MADRID - Civil Guard agents were called into the small town of Mirandilla, Badajoz, on Sunday to prevent 200 residents from lynching a local family.

The group of neighbours said that they were tired of being terrorised by the family, whose members have reportedly perpetrated many violent acts and made constant threats to villagers.

Despite the presence of the Civil Guard, three people were wounded as a result of rifle shots fired at the group of residents by a member of the family.
