JAEN — One Civil Guard cadet was killed and two others injured in an accident at a shooting range on Friday.
Civil Guard sources told EFE said the incident happened at the academy in Baeza.
All three were practising shooting inside the building at the time.
One cadet was shot dead, another suffered gunshot wounds and the third was injured in the accident.
They were being treated at the Hospital San Juan de la Cruz in Ubeda.
One man, named only as V.N.G, was being treated for gunshots in the thorax and arm.
The other had an injury in the right foot but had not been shot.
A judge has opened an investigation into what happened.
The families of the three cadets have not yet been informed about the tragedy.
The academy trains 4,250 cadets from all over Spain.
