BARCELONA – A woman was arrested for allegedly keeping her two children locked up for two months.
The children were found malnourished after spending 60 days in the house in Barcelona.
Teachers at the children’s school raised the alarm after they did not come to school and they had been unable to locate the mother.
Police spoke to the mother on various occasions but she refused to let them come into her home.
She told officers she had sent the children to her country of origin, the Dominican Republic.
Suspicious of her story, police got a search warrant and found the children in the house in a filthy state and shut in a room.
The 34-year-ol, who is divorced, was being held in custody on Thursday.
The father has not been found.
