BADAJOZ — A man was arrested for allegedly stealing 16,000 cheeses worth EUR 100,000 from the factory where he worked, police said on Thursday.

The 37-year-old, named only as J.F.D.F., had been smuggling the Monesterio cheese out of the Tentuqueso S.L.  factory for the past six years.

He would tamper with the production line to make it appear as if the cheese had been accounted for.

He has been accused of theft.

Police mounted a surveillance operation with the help of the factory owner, watching workers as they left the factory.

The accused was finally caught with cheese in the boot of his car.
