MADRID - The public prosecutor's office has demanded a five-year prison term for a priest who has a previous conviction from 2006 for sexually accusing a mentally handicapped girl. The clergyman in question is now being charged for abusing at least four minors while giving religion lessons.
For his first conviction, he was sentenced to two years in prison and a EUR 18,000 fine.
The written accusation accuses priest Gregorio S. of touching nine- and 10-year-old girls during religion classes at Gabriel Castellà school in Igualada, Barcelona, between 2003 and 2004.
Magistrates consider it proven that in June, 2000, the priest took a neighbour to the church where he touched her breasts and genitalia, forced her to touch his penis, and masturbated in front of her.
