WASHINGTON-The US CIA and their Spanish counterparts want to step up the sharing of intelligence on terrorists, the Spanish interior minister said.

Speaking following meetings with CIA director Porter Goss and other US officials, Jose Antonio Alonso said that Spain "has a good quantity and quality of information in the war against international terrorism, and the United States, obviously, has the same."

"If we access significant information from the United States and they from us, we will generate additional value which will be decisive in the war on terrorism," Alonso said.

The US spy agency "said they are ready to collaborate in a decisive manner with Spain", said Alonso at the end of a three day visit to the United States.
