ALICANTE — A British expat has been charged by Spanish police after his wife was found dead at their home on the Costa Blanca.

Barry Dickinson, 51, and his wife, Susan, 44, moved from Luton in Bedfordshire some years ago.

Mrs Dickinson's body was found by her daughter in a bedroom at the couple's village home south of Alicante last week.

Police said she had been beaten with a hammer.

Mr Dickinson is being held in prison in the city of Alicante.
