British deputy PM to holiday in Spain: mayor
British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg will spend part of his vacation at his wife's hometown of Olmedo in central Spain as he has for over a decade, the mayor of the town said Wednesday.
The couple and their three sons -- Antonio, Alberto and Miguel -- will stay at his wife Miriam Gonzalez Durantez's family home in the town for several days later this month, mayor Alfonso Centeno told reporters.
He said they were welcomed in the town "like just another family" and without a fuss".
"They are normal people who have become very influential in politics and business," Centeno added.
"He is not even a tourist because these carry maps but Clagg knows all the corners of the town."
Clegg, who speaks Spanish, and his wife were married in Olmedo, located some 150 kilometres (90 miles) north of Madrid in September 2000.
Miriam's late father, Jose Antonio Gonzalez Caviedes who passed away in 1996, was a senator who represented the region.
Earlier on Wednesday US First Lady Michelle Obama and her youngest daughter Sasha, nine, arrived on Spain's southern coast for a four-day private vacation with friends at a luxury hotel in the resort town of Marbella.
