13 February 2006, SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA — An explosion at a fireworks factory destroyed a number of workshops but there were no injuries.

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA — An explosion at a fireworks factory  destroyed a number of workshops but there were no injuries.

The blast happened at the Calo-Teo factory near Santiago de Compostela early on Monday morning.

Homes up to 300 metres away were also damaged.

The blast was so loud it was heard in Santiago de Compostela, which is 10 kilometres away.

The explosion happened at 6.23am, in the village Mazás.

It was first thought that it was some type of bomb going off.
