MADRID — David Beckham and his wife Victoria dismissed photographs which allegedly show him kissing a mystery brunette in Madrid.

A Spanish photographer claims Beckham kissed the girl on the lips 'for 15 to 20 seconds' during two meetings with her on consecutive days near the Real Madrid training ground a little over two weeks ago.

The British Daily Mail newspaper said there could be several possible innocent explanations for the encounter.

If Beckham were trying to conceal an affair he would be unlikely to arrange a meeting beside the training ground, where photographers are bound to be waiting.

And there is always the possibility that he has been set up.

A spokesman for the Beckhams said: "There are a lot of enthusiastic fans around the ground and a kiss is normal in Spain. David doesn't remember meeting the same girl twice."

And the Beckhams gave an interview to the British newspaper The Sun, in which Victoria claimed their marriage was "stronger than ever".

She said: "It hasn't been easy but I don't want anyone's sympathy. Everything about my life is good. I'm so proud of David. He's still my Goldenballs."

Beckham added: "Despite what people might think, we love each other very much.

"My wife is an amazing woman and I'm very proud of her. Nothing is going to break us up. Our relationship is strong and life feels fantastic."After years of trying to crack the American market,

The affair claims came as Beckham and his wife were in the Us trying to promote her new clothes range.

The Beckhams chose the headquarters of Creative Artists, Hollywood's leading agency, as the venue for a party to launch David's Los Angeles soccer academy.

That guaranteed at least some star guests to bolster their credibility with the American public.

They were photographed with the likes of actors Michael Keaton and Luke Perry plus singers Lionel Richie, Diana Ross and fellow-Briton Robbie Williams, who has a home in LA.

They have also dined with Tom Cruise and his girlfriend Katie Holmes at Cruise's Beverly Hills mansion, visited Disneyland and popped into the MTV Movie Awards.
