MADRID - A man who posed as a babysitter in order to sexually abuse a one- and two-year-old boy pleaded guilty in court Monday to paedophilic crimes and said he would accept chemical castration as a cure.
Álvaro I.G., a computer expert who used the nickname Nanysex on internet chat rooms, admitted to also sexually abusing five babies between 2002 and 2004 in the Madrid suburb of Collado Villalba and in Lo Pagán, Murcia, where he ran an internet café.
I. G. was arrested in May 2005 following a police inquiry into videos he had posted on the internet, showing babies still in diapers being abused sexually. In the trial yesterday, he denied that he had anally penetrated any of the children he came in contact.
Prosecutors are demanding that I. G. be sentenced to 39 years in prison under close psychological scrutiny to ensure he is "cured" once he is released from prison.
Three other suspects - including at least one who also appears in the videos - are also on trial. They allegedly visited Nanysex as he babysat the children and observed or participated in the sexual abuse.
