Assault suspect arrested for beating up a passer-by

A professor who interfered in a violent argument between the suspect and his partner was beaten up and remains in a coma.

MADRID - Javier Castro, who was caught on CCTV beating up a professor in Majadahonda, Madrid, after he interfered in a violent argument between Castro and his partner, was finally arrested Tuesday, 10 days after the assault, which left the victim in a coma.

Castro remained free as his partner failed to file charges against him.

However, statements from the family of the professor have enabled police in Alicante to take him into custody. The professor, Jesús Neira, remains in critical condition in hospital, but is reportedly improving.
