26 September 2005
MADRID — Amid widespread expectation of ETA declaring a truce, the terrorist organisation explodes a car bomb.
The bomb exploded at an industrial park near the central city of Avila after authorities received a warning call in the name of the Basque terrorist group ETA.
The car-bomb attack, which occurred at around 10pm on Saturday night outside a printing plant, caused no injuries but significant material damage, local officials told EFE.
Shortly before the explosion, a warning call in the name of ETA - which is seeking an independent Basque nation comprising part of northern Spain and southern France - was received by the DyA roadside assistance service.
Police explosives experts were carrying out inspections of the area near the Vicolozano industrial park - Avila's second largest - where the bomb exploded.
