MADRID - Royal Spanish Football Federation President Ángel María Villar reiterated his desire for Luis Aragonés to remain as national coach when the two met yesterday to clear the air after last week's media spat.

Villar issued a statement Wednesday claiming that he "completely trusts the coach, as always," in his quest for a European Championship title.

Last week, after it had been made public that Villar wanted to announce Aragonés' successor before the summer tournament, Aragonés retorted that "it would be better to fire Luis first and then hire another coach," provoking rumours that the coach would either resign or be sacked.
