CADIZ - Spanish rescuers Thursday continued searching for five fishermen who were feared to have drowned when their boat capsized off Barbate on the southern coast, rescuers said.

Three of the 16 crew died, while eight were rescued on Wednesday. Five remained missing.

Rescuers had started searching for the five inside the capsized boat, but the vessel was no longer visible on Thursday. High waves and strong wind hampered the rescue effort.

The boat turned over at about 25 kilometres south-west of Barbate when it was returning from Moroccan waters in stormy weather. dpa st sc
