MADRID - The Spanish Union of Airline Pilots (Sepla) yesterday announced a five-day strike for Air Europa flights from 5-9 May.

The union claims the carrier will violate its collective bargaining agreement if it goes ahead with plans to create a new airline, Universal, whose establishment will "decapitate" the existing agreement.

Barring resolution, the Sepla has threatened another strike 22 days later.
