‘Speak Easy’ – A monthly read-around at St George’s Bookshop
At 20:30 at St. George’s English Bookshop, Wörther Straße 27, 10405 Berlin/ 030 81798333 /U2 Senefelderplatz, M2 tram (Prenzlauer Allee/Marienburger Strasse)
“Following a 2008 event to commemorate the work of David Foster Wallace, where people read excerpts of his writings, St George’s Bookshop has organised a series of monthly readings. The idea is simple: If you’ve ever read a piece of writing (non-fiction, fiction, essay, prose, poetry, dialogue, monologue, whatever) that you’ve admired and which you’d like to share, then this is the event for you.
Anyone can read an extract (of up to three pages), in any format, in any language, on any topic, perhaps with a brief explanation of what this author or piece of writing means to you. If you’re not sure about reading something yourself, you can ask someone else to do it for you. There’ll probably be a microphone, and the event should be as drone-free as possible. If you want to read, just come along at eight with your book, and we’ll take it from there.

It all starts with an innocent cheddar cheese roll, and for a while there Zack seems to have his consumption under control. But when he starts sneaking into the back rooms of parties to get his Camembert fix, spending unhealthy amounts of time at fondues and closing down vital laxative bodily functions, it is clear (to everyone around him, at least) that things have gone desperately wrong.

English Theatre Berlin: Talking Heads
Three people, three stories - and the abyss they have to face.
The Outside Dog: Marjory finds out the godawful truth about her husband.
Playing Sandwiches: A purposefully uncomfortable and not unsympathetic sojourn inside the head of a child-molester trying, unsuccessfully, to stop.
Nights in the Gardens of Spain: Rosemary befriends a neighbour to the point of obsession, only to realise that there are strange things going on over there.
Three pieces from Alan Bennett's brilliant and masterful Talking Heads series of monologues, poignant yet hilarious pieces peeling back the veneer of respectability to revel in - and of course laugh at - the
private foibles of everyday life. Bennett, who just recently had a huge
bestseller in Germany with his novella Die souveräne Leserin is one of
Britain´s greatest writers. read more on www.etberlin.de
