Two workers killed after staircase collapses 02/01/2007 00:00

MADRID — Two workers were killed when a staircase collapsed at an industrial estate near Valencia on Tuesday.
The men, who were both in their forties, died in the accident at Algemesi.
Emergency services were called just after 11am and fire fighters tried without success to free both men from the rubble.
They managed to rescue other workers who were trapped on the first floor and could not come down.
Fire fighters said the cause of the tragedy was not yet clear.
