Place in record books for Vitoria on the cards 07/05/2007 00:00

7 May 2007

VITORIA – The city of Vitoria was hoping to get into the Guinness Book of Records on Monday by staging the largest ever simultaneous card game.

Three hundred and sixty-two pairs played at the same time.

The players, mostly men, came from all parts of Spain and each paid EUR 6 to take part. The cash will go to charity.

They were hoping to beat the previous holder of the title, Charleston in the United States, which staged a game with 330 couples.
