Car sales fall for second month in a row 02/10/2007 00:00

2 October 2007

MADRID - New car registrations in Spain fell by 7.7 percent in September on a 12-month basis to 96,751 units, the second straight monthly decline, the country's car manufacturers' association Anfac said Monday.

Since the beginning of the year 1,215,801 new cars have been registered in Spain, a 2.0 percent decrease over the same period in 2006, it said in a statement posted on its Internet site.

The association expects car registrations will fall by 2.3 percent in 2007 over the previous year when 1,634,595 new units were registered due to the rise in interest rates in the eurozone.

Seat led registrations in September ahead of Citroen and Ford.
