Annan to hold talks with Zapatero over Lebanon crisis 05/09/2006 00:00

MADRID — Kofi Annan, the UN secretary general, is to due hold talks with Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero over the peace process in Lebanon, the government said on Tuesday.
Annan, who is due to arrive in Madrid on Thursday, will meet with Zapatero and may also address the Spanish parliament.
By coincidence, on the same day, the Congress is due to debate whether 1,100 Spanish troops should be sent to the war-torn country.
Last week, the Spanish cabinet agreed in principle to send the troops to join the multinational peacekeeping force.
Annan is on a tour of the Middle East and Europe over the Lebanon crisis.
