GENEVA - The French car maker Renault is entering the hotly- contested medium sized SUV crossover segment with the launch at the Geneva Motor Show of the Koleos.
Similar to the concept car shown at the 2006 Paris Motor Show, the Koleos is a venture developed with partner Nissan.
Much attention was placed on interior comfort. Rounded and light surfaces dominate the cockpit. A special feature is the 0.75 square metre panoramic roof. A twin-zone air conditioner provides the right temperature.
Special sound-proof materials including a low-resistance windscreen were designed to keep engine and wind noise to a minimum.
Available in European showrooms from September, the Koleos will be offered in two diesel and one petrol version. The 2-litre DCi diesels have an output of 150 hp and 173 hp. The 2.5-litre petrol motor provides 172 hp.
All variants are fitted with six-gear transmission with the diesels also with the option of a six-level automatic gearbox.
