HAMBURG - German women over the age of 30 take a more realistic approach to relationships, placing emphasis on long-term planning, the women's magazine Freundin reported.

Some 44 percent of women between 30 and 40 said in a survey they had abandoned ideals they had about a partnership when they were younger.

Women in this age group even plan their future years in advance, the magazine said, citing a poll conducted among 1,000 women.

Only a small minority of women said they would raise children as a single mother and only two per cent said they would leave their partner if he did not share their wish to have a child.

For 28 percent of the women, the current man in their lives was also their "dream man", but another 23 percent of the women asked said they regularly questioned the relationship they were in.
