13 September 2004 , POTSDAM - A new US-based TV channel aimed at wine lovers is set to launch in Germany in the autumn, German broadcasting regulators said. Broadcast authorities granted a licence for the channel to begin operation via cable, satellite and terrestrial frequency. POTSDAM - A new US-based TV channel aimed at wine lovers is set to launch in Germany in the autumn, German broadcasting regulators said.

Broadcast authorities granted a licence for the channel to begin operation via cable, satellite and terrestrial frequency.

Wein TV, the German-language version of America's Wine Network, will provide 24 hours of programming a day focusing on all aspects of wine, including selection and collection, cooking, etiquette and entertaining tips.

The commercially Wine Network has offices in San Francisco, Honolulu and Hong Kong and will launch in the US, Europe and Asia simultaneously this autumn.

In Germany, the broadcaster has lined up agreements with Kabel!Vision, the digital platform of German digital TV cable operator PrimaCom, and Ish, the regional cable operator in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
