Warning strikes at Berlin airports

German trade union Verdi called Thursday a three-hour warning strike by ground personnel at Berlin's two airports, Tegel and Schoenefeld, after wage talks reached an impasse.

The industrial action from 4:00 pm (1400 GMT) was expected to result in delays for passengers at the German capital's busy two airports, Verdi warned.

"We regret this, but because of the behaviour of management this tactic is unavoidable," union negotiator Michael Walter said.

It said the short notice given was because of attempts of "massive intimidation" and strike-breaking by employers during the last stoppage on May 27.
