5 November 2004 , WOLFSBURG - Volkswagen's executive directors are to skip pay rises for the next 28 months, the same as workers in the group's western German factories, a VW spokesman said Friday. Metalworkers' unions agreed Wednesday to a package deal, sacrificing a pay increase for the sake of a guarantee of 103,000 existing jobs in the west of the country. Metalworkers' unions agreed Wednesday to a package deal, sacrificing a pay increase for the sake of a guarantee of 103,000 existing jobs in the west of the country. Volkswagen promised a EUR 1,000 for every one of the staff.

Negotiators have set out details of the deal to a conference of stewards from the IG Metall union, which is set to adopt it or reject it in the course of Friday.
