US soldier arrested in Greek child pornography sweep
An US soldier serving at a military base on Crete was among six people arrested in Greece for allegedly disseminating child pornography over the Internet, a police source said on Monday.
The suspects also include a German importer and father of six, an Austrian shipowner, a Ukrainian private employee and two Greek businessmen, the source told AFP.
In addition to the town of Chania on Crete, arrests and home searches were carried out in Athens, on the islands of Salamis, Lefkada and Lesbos, the port of Patras and the northeastern town of Didymoteicho, a police statement said.
Another four people are sought in connection with the case, code-named 'Angels' and pursued by police for the past two months.
Most of the footage appears to have been taken in Latin America but some of the victims, some of whom are only months old, appear European and police are investigating possible filming in Greece.
