Worms, Germany (dpa) - A tipsy young lady surpised police in the western German town of Worms in the early hours of Sunday morning by turning up at the police station and asking for an alcohol test to prove to her boyfriend she was in a fit condition to drive.

According to police, she had driven from a party to the police station in the hope of proving her claim to her partner, with whom she had argued over who should drive home.

Finding the unnamed 18-year-old incapable of using the breathalyzer, police took blood instead for testing.

Police said the woman did not have her driver's licence with her as required under German law.

Her boyfriend refused to be tested.
