KOBLENZ, GERMANY - Three teenage males have been arrested in Germany on charges of vandalizing Jewish cemeteries by overturning gravestones and daubing swastikas on memorials, prosecutors said Monday.

The attacks, on two small cemeteries in the west of the country at Weitersburg und Hoehr-Grenzhausen, have been under investigation since September last year. Prosecutors in Koblenz said the suspects, aged 17 to 19, admitted the attacks and were freed on bail.

Police believe two of the three acted out of anti-Semitic motives. Whether the third joined in last September simply because he was their friend remained unclear. The trio are expected to be put on trial.
