Suspected letter bomb to Deutsche Bank CEO caught
A suspected letter bomb addressed to Deutsche Bank chief Josef Ackermann was intercepted Wednesday at the bank's Frankfurt headquarters, German police said.
The letter, which a police spokeswoman said was "suspected to contain explosive material", was taken for forensic examination. The results were not yet known.
"We do not know who sent the letter or why," the spokeswoman said.
Ackermann, 63, has headed Deutsche Bank since 2002 and plans to step down in May 2012 after the group's annual shareholder meeting.
Financial sources have said he is being investigated by Munich prosecutors over allegedly false testimony he gave in a civil suit connected with the 2002 demise of a media group.
