Police in Germany said Friday they were examining an Air Baltic flight from the Latvian capital Riga to Berlin after the airline received an anonymous bomb threat.

The Fokker 100 plane, its crew and its 74 passengers were being held in a special security zone at Berlin's Tegel airport, a police spokesman said, without giving further details.

The drama followed an incident on Wednesday when police arrested two Russian men at Tegel on suspicion of planning to hijack a plane.

The men were released after it emerged they were airline employees returning from training.
