RHEINMUENSTER - A multi-millionaire sheikh from the Gulf emirate of Dubai is interested in investing in a possible aerospace theme park in the Black Forest region of Germany.

Sheikh Abdulla Lahij el Basti has expressed interest in the EUR 40 million project, which would be located at the Baden Airpark airport-industrial park in Rheinmuenster, said airport manager Manfred Jung.

After two years of talks with officials of the German Aerospace Centre and other possible partners, he said negotiations have entered a final stage with state and federal authorities.

The theme park could open by late 2005, drawing up to 300,000 visitors a year to take part in aerospace-related rides such as space-flight simulators.
