Berlin (dpa) - Santa Claus' German postal address has received a record number of letters this year, a post office official said Monday.

About 280,000 letters from children around the world were sent this year to the German post office address at Himmelpfort near the nation's capital, Berlin.

This year's flood of letters from 80 countries, including from China and Eritrea, broke last year's record by about 1,000, a German post office official said.

About 10,000 people visited Santa Claus in Himmelpfort.

High on the wish list of those sending letters to Santa Claus were computer games, mobile phones and puppies.

Many also asked Santa if he could help their parents find new jobs.
