German prosecutors said Friday that two senior Rwandan Hutu rebel leaders, Ignace Murwanashyaka and Straton Musoni, have been indicted on charges of crimes against humanity and war crimes.

Murwanashyaka, political leader of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), and his deputy Musoni were arrested in November 2009.

The FDLR has been accused of atrocities in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo since fleeing Rwanda after the 1994 genocide.
