German television group ProSiebenSAT1 said on Wednesday it had secured the broadcasting rights in Germany for the annual action sports event X Games.

"ProSiebenSAT1 and the international sports media group ESPN have signed a deal on the rights for the world's biggest and most important action sports event, the X Games," the German group said in a statement.

Under the terms of the deal, ProSiebenSAT1 will hold rights to broadcast six X Games events for pay-TV, free TV and video-on-demand, namely two winter X Games in the United States and France and four summer X Games in Brazil, Spain, Germany and the US.

The X Games, organised since 1994, includes competitions in disciplines such as snowboarding, ski-ing, snowmobiles, BMX, skateboarding, rallies, mountain biking and motocross.
