30 July 2004, BERGEN - Britain's Prince Andrew paid an official visit to British troops in Germany Friday, kissing babies and shaking hands with dependants of soldiers stationed at Bergen-Hohne.

BERGEN - Britain's Prince Andrew paid an official visit to British troops in Germany Friday, kissing babies and shaking hands with dependants of soldiers stationed at Bergen-Hohne.

The Duke of York, 44, officiated at ceremonies during which he conferred medals on Iraq war heroes among troops of the 9th and 12th Royal Lancers Battalion.

Prince Andrew was appointed honorary colonel of the battalion in July 2003 following the death of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. The Duke of York is the honorary colonel of several regiments.
