3 March 2005, FRANKFURT - Frankfurt police are investigating a pilot for the US owned Delta Airlines who was apprehended in a drunken state just before a flight to Atlanta. A police spokesman confirmed a report in the tabloid 'Bild' newspaper about the incident which occurred at the start of the week just before a Delta plane was to take off with 156 passengers. FRANKFURT - Frankfurt police are investigating a pilot for the US owned Delta Airlines who was apprehended in a drunken state just before a flight to Atlanta.

A police spokesman confirmed a report in the tabloid 'Bild' newspaper about the incident which occurred at the start of the week just before a Delta plane was to take off with 156 passengers.

Police were now investigating the man on charges of endangering air traffic safety.

'Bild' newspaper said security officials at Frankfurt airport had smelled alcohol on the suspect, a co-pilot. The plane's departure for Atlanta was delayed by several hours as the airline had to find a replacement pilot.
