Hamburg (dpa) - One in five Germans say they would like to see the Berlin Wall back, according to a survey published on Wednesday, 18 years after the collapse of communism in East Germany.

A survey conducted by the Forsa research institute for Stern magazine showed 21 per cent in favour of a return to two Germanies, while 74 per cent were against another division.

Some 1,006 people were questioned for the survey, which has a 3 per cent margin of error.

Stern said there was no significant difference of opinion between those questioned in the west and eastern parts of Germany.

The Berlin Wall was stormed by East Germans fed up with communist repression on November 9, 1989. German reunification followed 11 months later.
