Obama to meet with French, German youth on NATO trip
The president will meet with thousands of high school and university students from Strasbourg and from the German region just over the border before continuing on to Friday’s NATO summit.Strasbourg -- American President Barack Obama will take time out before Friday's NATO summit to meet with several thousand young French and German people, local officials said.
Obama will talk for about 10 minutes before taking questions from the floor in a concert hall in the eastern French city of Strasbourg in an event scheduled to last about an hour.
Around 3,000 high school and university students from Strasbourg and from the German region just over the border were invited to the meeting.
Obama arrived in London on Tuesday on the first overseas trip of his presidency to hold a crucial Group of 20 summit on the economic crisis and meetings with America's military partners in NATO.
Twenty-eight heads of state and government are set to descend on Strasbourg and Kehl across the border for the summit marking NATO's 60th anniversary.
Between 30,000 and 60,000 people are expected at a mass protest rally.
