STRAUBING - Police in Germany accused a nurse on Tuesday of killing at least two patients with injections of morphine and said they were inquiring into the circumstances of five other deaths.

Police said a magistrate would be asked to remand the nurse, 48, into custody. She had nursed the patients at the St. Elisabeth Clinic in Straubing, 120 kilometres northeast of Munich.

Last year, German police arrested a 26-year-old male nurse who was accused of killing dozens of patients by injection in the town of Sonthofen. After a series of exhumations, prosecutors said this year they expected to indict him for 29 homicides.
