NUREMBERG - This year's Nuremberg Toy Fair will attract nearly 80,000 buyers and sellers, making it bigger than rival toy fairs in New York and Hong Kong, organisers said.

A record 63 percent of those attending will come from abroad, said fair director Ernst Kick 10 to 15 February. "This reflects an industry trend towards consolidating buying at major international fairs," Kick said.

"The influx of international visitors to the Nuremberg Toy Fair puts us significantly ahead of New York and Hong Kong," he added.

This year's fair will feature a new section devoted to outdoor and leisure games and equipment offered by 141 sellers.

"The outdoor/leisure sector increasingly is becoming a major sources of revenues that traditional toy retailers cannot afford to overlook," Kick said.

"We are launching an innovation offensive to respond to the fact that 55 percent of revenues are the result of new products, Kick said. "This year's fair features 60,000 new products," he added.
