TEHRAN - No official decision has yet been taken in the case of detained German national Donald Klein, his Iranian lawyer said Thursday.
"No decision has yet been taken officially by the appeals court and I think that no decision will be taken until after the (Persian) New Year holidays (March 20 to April 3)," Abdolsamad Khoramshahi told Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
The lawyer declined to comment on press reports or rumours as the sources of these reports are neither official nor reliable, he said.
"It is also not clear whether the appeals court will take the same decision on the German as on the French detainee," he added.
An appeals court was held last Sunday in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas to assess the 18-month prison sentence handed down to Donald Klein and his French friend who were arrested last November by Iranian officials in Iranian waters.
The two claim they were fishing in the United Arab Emirates' part of the Persian Gulf and entered Iranian waters accidentally, but last January the court in Bandar Abbas convicted the two of illegal trespassing.
