BERLIN - A German brothel in the western city of Cologne on Tuesday blacked out or removed flags from Iran and Saudi Arabia used on a poster with a scantily clad woman aimed at advertising during the upcoming football World Cup.

The poster, showing a blonde woman stripping off her bikini, has the caption "the world as a guest among girlfriends" - a play on the official slogan for the June 9 to July 9 World Cup being held in Germany.

Both Iran and Saudi Arabia are among the 32 countries taking part in the World Cup.

Following complaints from Muslim groups, the flags of both states were removed from the "Pasha" brothel.

But the brothel says it plans to keep using the poster which depicts the flags of other countries taking part in the World Cup.

Prostitution is legal in Germany and officials in some cities are even setting up make-shift containers where prostitutes can receive their customers.
