BERLIN - Boxing legend Muhammad Ali plans to attend a bout of his daughter Laila Ali ahead of a heavyweight world title fight in Berlin, the German Sauerland camp announced on Thursday.

The fights in the Max-Schmeling arena, named after Germany's only world heavyweight champion who died earlier this year, are set for December 17.

Ahead of the boxing night Muhammad Ali is to become the first sportsperson to receive the Otto-Hahn-Peace Medal of the German Society of the United Nations, joining the likes of former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, writer Simon Wiesenthal, violin Yehudi Menuhin and South African singer Miriam Makeba.

Health provided, Ali has been long suffering from Parkinson's Disease, he will then watch the non-title fight of Leila Ali against Sweden's Asa Maria Sandell, a former arts pages writer for the Helsingborgs Dagblad daily.

The main fight on the night is a World Boxing Association heavyweight title fight between holder John Ruiz of the U.S. and Russian Nikolay Valuyev.
