SALZGITTER - Most mobile-phone users, even in health-conscious Germany, do not fear harm from radio waves close to their heads or bodies, a survey released on Friday indicated.

The survey, conducted for Germany's Federal Radiation Protection Agency BfS based in the town of Salzgitter, found just 41 percent were 'concerned' or 'very concerned' about a possible health risk, far fewer than feared nuclear radiation or traffic accidents.

A majority of the Germans questioned said they could conceive there might possibly be some health risk. Some 12 percent, typically men under the age of 21, said they used their mobiles all the time and could not care less about radiation.
