Lufthansa plans Baghdad-Munich service in September
Lufthansa, the biggest European airline by passenger numbers, said on Friday that it is to operate flights to Baghdad from Munich in southern Germany from September 30, the first such service for 20 years.
Lufthansa said that the flights would be operated four times a week by Swiss affiliate PrivatAir using Boeing 737 aircraft, and complement service since April between Arbil in northern Iraq and Frankfurt.
The group's Austrian Air subsidiary also serves Arbil from Vienna.
