AUE - A notorious troublemaker in his teens has been identified as the man who fired a flare at a recent second division game which injured Energie Cottbus coach Petrik Sander, police said on Wednesday.

Police said that the 19-year-old from Cottbus is serving a Germany-wide stadium ban until 2009 for other offences.

Police said that eyewitness accounts and video footage proved beyond doubt that the man had fired the flare during Friday night's match between Erzgebirge Aue and Cottbus.

The flare was allegedly fired from outside the Aue stadium late in the game and exploded next to Sander.

The coach was hospitalised in Aue, released on Saturday, but then went to a Cottbus clinic on Monday complaining about a strong headache, a swollen face and reduced hearing as a result of the trauma sustained from the explosion.
