Islamic group praises dead German jihadists: video
An Islamic group praised five German jihadists who were killed this week by a US drone attack in Pakistan in a video posted on the Internet, US monitoring group SITE said on Friday.
The video posted on Wednesday showed a member of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) going by the name of Abu Ibrahim speaking in German for 30 minutes in front of a montage of violent images.
Ibrahim called on the mothers of the dead men to be proud of their sons for choosing to fight in Pakistan.
"If you think that we are shaming you and we are doing something terribly wrong, then blame yourselves but don't blame us," Ibrahim said.
The missile attack took place late on Monday in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal district bordering Afghanistan, a purported hideout for foreign and homegrown militants linked to the Taliban and Al-Qaeda where IMU operates so-called terrorist training camps.
According to the latest annual reporty by Germany's Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, there are 29 Islamic extremist organisations in Germany, with 36,000 members at the end of 2009 -- 1,500 more than the year before.
Some 200 Germans or foreigners living in Germany have spent time in Pakistan with the intention of receiving paramilitary training from Islamist groups, the agency said.
